Warm Invitations---CNICA’s Publicity Activity Abroad On The 6th WCEC
2001/6/25

Mr. Jing Shuping , vice chairman of China People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of China National Industrial and Commercial Association (CNICA), also chairman of the organization committee of the 6th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention, extended to overseas Chinese businessmen his warm invitation :“Welcome home For a business tour!”, during his visit to the Netherlands in April.

1 month later , CNICA sent abroad 3 delegations successively headed by its 3 vice chairmen. They extended similar sincere invitations to overseas Chinese businessmen.
Organizing so many high-level overseas tours in such short period is rather rare in CNICA’s foreign liaison work. It represented CNICA’s focused concern on the 6th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention.

Frank and Sincere Speech
Invited by Dutch China Chamber of Commerce (DCCC) , a 10-mbmber CNICA delegation headed by Mr. Jing ShuPing took a 6-day visit to the Netherlands from April 10 to April 25. This fruitful visit unveiled the prelude of a series of international publicity activities promoting the 6th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC).

During its visit to the Netherlands , the delegation joined the Dutch Investment Office , the Amsterdam municipal government and DCCC in hosting a “Symposium On China’s Economic Development”, which got high comments from those participants .

Afterwards , the delegation hosted a “Briefing On the 6th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention”(WCEC), during which Jing Shuping explained why CNICA bid for hosting the World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention. Jing mentioned 2 resons : first , CNICA wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to invite a large number of overseas Chinese businessmen back to China to have a first hand understanding of the motherland’s economic development ; second, CNICA wanted to provide a platform for overseas Chinese businessmen and Chinese officials from the economic sectors to discuss which was the best way for development in the new century . A large number of European Chinese merchants and their communities, as well as local media, were deeply interested in the symposium held in Amsterdam .

Jing also addressed to worries on going to China to attend the Convention. He said :”the WCEC is not a special conference for inviting business , but there will be trade and economic communication activities , through which entrepreneurs both at home and abroad will have an opportunity to enhance communications and seek common ground for economic cooperation and development. We are not going to organize a large tour delegation, but we will invite the participants to tour around and have a look at the achievements of China’s 20 years reform and opening up, which will enable them to feel the advancement of the motherland. We are not going to organize a home visiting delegation , but we will invite our compatriots to visit ancestors’ sites such as Confucian’s Temple and the Tomb of Huangdi Emperor ”.

Jing’s frank speech was welcomed by warm applauds from the audience , and his words also won for him the trust of overseas Chinese businessmen, who eagerly expressed their desire to catch the golden opportunity for improving understanding and cooperation. DCCC president responded that , DCCC would definitely organize a delegation of more than 50 members to attend the Convention.

During the visit , 4 civil businessmen in the delegation attracted the attention of Chinese merchants in the Europe. The communications between them resulted in the signing of various cooperative projects.
