After Jing shuping’s visit to the Netherlands ----European Chinese Businessmen Actively Expressed Desires to participate in the 6th WCEC
2001/6/25

“The overseas Chinese in Europe care much about the economic development of their motherland and will actively take part in the 6th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC). The Dutch China Chamber of Commerce (DCCC) alone will send a delegation of more than 50 members .”, Mr. Jing Shuping, CPPCC vice chairman and chairman of China Industrial and Commercial Association (CICA) told press after he returned from his overseas trip on April 27.

On the morning, Jing told press at the Beijing Capital Airport that , the CICA delegation to the Netherlands was a great success. Overseas Chinese living there was glad that this year’s world Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) was to be held in China. DCCC expressed its desire to organize a delegation of at least 50 members to attend the Convention.
Jing was very moved by overseas Chinese’s care for their native nation. He mentioned that many overseas Chinese took a long trip to the Netherlands from Italy , UK, etc. to meet with the visiting delegation and learn about the situation in their motherland. The Dutch Chinese businessmen told the delegation that a strong and powerful motherland would provide them with the largest support.
According to Jing, many overseas Chinese businessmen wanted to participate in the WCEC , and take part in motherland’s construction. They also wished to make more friends at the Convention.

Jing told journalists that , overseas Chinese businessmen were very satisfied with the agenda of the Convention. They were also very excited at the news that Premier Zhu Rongji, and CPPCC Chairman Li Ruihuan would be present at the Convention. They said they never expect Chinese government would pay such great attention to the Convention.

Jing emphasized that :“After this visit, I realize that the policy we set for the WCEC is right. We are not going to make it a convention for business-inviting. We will give them a chance to go back to the motherland to have a first-hand knowledge of the great changes that has taken place in the past 20 years and the direction for the nation’s future development. We are sure that , after seeing the great prospect of the motherlands development , the overseas Chinese businessmen will feel that their cooperation with enterprises in China will surely result in a promising future.”

Jing revealed to the press that , 4 civil businessmen in the delegation had all found overseas partners. They had reached intentional agreements on certain cooperative projects, some of which would soon be put into effect.

On April 23, the delegation held a “Briefing on the 6th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention ”. On the briefing , Mr. Cheng Lu, Secretary General of China Industrial and Commercial Association (CICA) and deputy chief of the delegation , made a 40-minute key note speech , and Jing answered questions of the audience and extended sincere invitations to European Chinese businessmen to attend the China Industrial and Commercial Association to be held in September this autumn in Nan Jing.
