Despite the Chilly Wind, The DCCC and Wenzhou Association of Fellow Townsmen Delegation Donated Love to a School in a Shanxi Depressed Area

On Sep. 30, the 24-member sightseeing delegation led by Xu Zhuoya, vice chairman of the DCCC, chairman of Wenzhou Association of Fellow Townsmen went to Wutaishan County, Shanxi province for a visit, where it was warmly received by Shanxi Overseas Chinese Office. The office introduced the basic situation of Wu Taishan district’s society and economy, especially the struggling situation of schools in the depressed areas. Members of delegation were deeply touched by the environment of students and decided to go to the school immediately.

When the delegation arrived at the primary school in Yang Baiyu Village , Taihuai County, the weather was seriously bad, the temperature dropped to as low as 3 ℃ below zero. In despite of the chilling wind, members of the delegation listened carefully to the report of the schoolmaster. As soon as saw the shaking situation of the school, members of the delegation presented to the school their donations, including a collective donation amounted up to 10,000 Yuan, and an individual donation amounted up to 25,000 Yuan. Xu Zhuoya, Lin An and Zhan Chuntao, each contributed 500 Euros. The scene is heart-warming and impressive. Mr. Xu Zhuoya said that, “we would like to do some good thing to those children, its our pleasure.” The schoolmaster showed his great thankfulness and vowed to bring back those dropouts and settle most urgent problems. Members from Shanxi Overseas Chinese Office expressed that they would supervise the utilization of the donation and would report the conclusion to the chamber. The delegation’s charity deeply moved the members of the local government, teachers and students at the scene.

When the delegation went back to the Netherlands, the schoolmaster, teachers and students of Yang Baiyu School sent their letters to deliver their appreciation. 15 students went back to their classroom, realia and books, which worth 6000 Yuan had been purchased, the school’s heating problem was also settled by purchasing warming appliances which worth 20000 Yuan. Shanxi Overseas Chinese Office respectively sent the appreciation to both the DCCC and Wenzhou Association of Fellow Townsmen, at the same time, it also reported the briefing on the delegation’s welldoing, put the delegation’s charity into the Internet and would further broadcast this touching activity.

The donations were greatly appreciated by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shanxi Province and the education sector of the local government. This is the largest amount of donations made voluntarily by the DCCC members. It reflected the patriotism of overseas Chinese and their care for those children living in poor areas of West China.
